What is Holistic Nutrition?
Holistic Nutrition acknowledges our body composition being interconnected and functioning together as a whole entity. Whatever we expose ourselves to, from our environment, thoughts, food or the products we use, initiate a cascade of interactions inside us. We are created as unique individuals where physical, mental and spiritual aspects of life can affect each person differently. These three aspects influence how our bodies respond to the food we choose to eat. Just as the body is viewed as a whole, food is seen at its best as whole. Nutrients are the most abundant in its natural state as whole foods that provide nourishment for our body’s vitality. In present day, a great array of food is available to us. Whether it’s obtaining out of season produce from a far distance, processed to prolong shelf life or altered in any way, all these conveniences change its natural nutritional content. What we consume on a regular basis can alter the balance of our well-being. When signs of imbalances appear, our body is intuitively coping on functioning with what is provided in our diet. With time and the necessary nutritional components, our body’s natural ability to recover back to health is enabled. Being aware of one’s specific needs by finding the right balance in making the best lifestyle choices for nourishing the body, mind and soul for optimal health, that is holistic nutrition.
